HANG TAG -

THIRSTY PLANT

PACKAGING DESIGN

SKETCHES

Creating a hang tag for a succulent company began with thoughts of water, plant name tags and eco friendly purposes. The three main Ideas I thought of were Thirsty, Civil Greens and You Suc. All plant hang tags had a purpose beyond just the plant as to how to protect our planet more.

THUMBNAILS

With so many ideas, the thumbnails changed a lot from the original sketches and in the end many of the ideas collided.

BLACK AND WHITE COMPUTER OUTPUTS

The Thirsty tag came out of all the other tag ideas combined with the shape mocking that of the pot itself, a play on the stripes and an eco friendly message on the inside.

COLOR STUDIES

Knowing I wanted a bright colored paper, there were many color tests and ultimately red is the color that stuck out the most next to the green plant.

FINAL

“400 billion gallons of water are used in the US each day,” this was a fact that really influenced this hang tag and its goal to have a deeper meaning for the “buyer.” To make that fact stand out I went with a groovy looking pot and hand-written type for the main words/logos of the tag and then an easy to read font for the rest of the copy. The tag unfolded so the viewer can read it easily while still connected to the plant and the back copy follows the same format.

This is succulent with passion for the planet.
